Sustainable care is about smart, efficient and future-proof solutions that keep care accessible and feasible. It is about technologies and innovations that relieve healthcare professionals, improve collaboration and create time savings, while patients and informal carers become more self-reliant and receive preventive support.

Pre-revenue and early revenue focus
We support pioneers who really want to change healthcare. HII invests in pre-revenue (Seed) and Early Stage (Series A) companies: from the moment a promising innovation is almost ready for its first customers to the first steps towards scale-up.
We choose teams with courage, solutions with social utility and technology that enhances quality of life and is forward-looking. With our support, we accelerate the path from functional prototype to practice.
Smart capital, the real acceleration
At HII, capital goes beyond money. We believe in Smart Capital: a powerful combination of levers that truly moves companies forward. Besides financial resources, we offer access to a strong network of partners, pilots and co-creation in the healthcare ecosystem. We build bridges between innovation and policy so that new solutions are put into practice faster. Moreover, we accelerate the go-to-market by supporting validation, adoption and scale-up. In an impact-first approach, financial returns are desirable, but they should never come at the expense of the mission. At HII, social impact is key. For each investment
Our focus is Belgium to ensure maximum social impact within Belgium. Start-ups from abroad may also qualify provided they have concrete plans to scale up on the Belgian market or are locally relevant.
These are amounts appropriate to the stage of the start-up with a maximum of €500,000 per startup. Exceptions are possible. HII invests through equity or convertible loans. We are reviewing progress and milestones to see if follow-up funding is possible.
HII is an internal fund of CM. HII is therefore not driven by incentives from external shareholders, allowing us to maintain our strong focus on impact.

Health Impact Invest (HII) is not a traditional venture capital (VC) fund. Traditional VCs focus mainly on exits and maximum financial returns, but HII takes an impact-first approach. HII also invests in companies that are not primarily focused on an exit, but realise significant social value. These companies often need patient capital and strategic support to grow sustainably.
